Christ University Launches Media Innovation Centre

Ghaziabad: Christ University, Delhi NCR, proudly inaugurated its Media Innovation Centre (MIC) on wednesday, marking a significant advancement in the university’s commitment to media education. The event was a major milestone for the institution, offering students a new platform to explore and excel in the dynamic field of media.

The ceremony commenced with a traditional lamp lighting, attended by notable figures including Dean and Director Rev. Fr. Dr. Jossy P. George, and Campus Administrator Rev. Fr. Peter M.V., along with other esteemed guests. Rev. Fr. Jossy P. George welcomed attendees with a heartfelt address, highlighting the MIC’s role in providing both academic and practical experience to students. He emphasized that the Centre is designed to help students expand their potential and play a leading role in the media industry.

Dr. Janis Darbari, Honorary Consul General of Montenegro in India, spoke about the evolving role of media in global diplomacy. She noted that media has transformed from a mere information exchange tool to a powerful platform for dialogue and cultural exchange. Dr. Darbari urged the responsible use of media to ensure it serves humanity positively, describing it as a bridge between nations and hearts.

Renowned media personality Abhigyan Prakash, a former editor at NDTV and ABP News, inspired students with his insights on the purpose of media. He emphasized that media should empower society and guide it ethically, encouraging students to highlight stories that inspire and bring about change.

Former Principal Director General of the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Sitanshu Kar, addressed the role of media in shaping public opinion and policy. He highlighted media’s power to mold societal views and underscored its importance in national welfare.

Acclaimed journalist Richa Anirudh shared her perspective on media’s role in amplifying marginalized voices. She advised students to use their platforms for truth and justice, spotlighting issues that drive societal change.

Dr. Suresh Gaur spoke on the evolution of media education, advocating for a curriculum that includes ethics, social responsibility, and creativity alongside technical skills. He described the MIC as a space where students can turn innovative ideas into reality and contribute positively to society.

Ms. Nipunika Shahid, Coordinator of the MIC, outlined the Centre’s goals, noting its role in introducing students to the latest media trends and technologies. She emphasized the Centre’s function as an incubator for creativity, offering practical experience through workshops and seminars. Mr. Anoop Antony’s technical expertise will further enhance the Centre’s initiatives, providing valuable visualization support.

Formal Launch of the Media Innovation Centre and a New Era

The most significant moment of the event came when Rev. Fr. Jossy P. George unveiled the new MIC logo, symbolizing the official start of the Centre. Following this, Rev. Fr. Peter M.V. launched the MIC Podcast. This new initiative will not only provide a platform for exploring media trends but will also connect students with industry leaders’ insights. The podcast will serve as a space where students can reach a broader audience and learn from industry veterans.

The inauguration of the Media Innovation Centre was not just an event but the beginning of a new journey.
