New Delhi: Nissan has unveiled the all-new Patrol SUV (Codename Y63) globally, with sales expected to start later this year. The new Patrol boasts an updated platform, fresh exterior and interior designs, and advanced tech features. It shares similarities with the Infiniti QX80 and will be sold as the Nissan Armada in North America.

Nissan Patrol Y63: Exterior Design

The new Patrol features a boxy, rugged design, with a wide piano black grille and vertically positioned headlamps with E-shaped LED DRLs. A chrome bar runs across the grille, enhancing its bold look. The profile includes a large glasshouse and floating roof effect. Higher trims offer contrast roof colors and electric footrests. The rear showcases vertically aligned tail lamps connected by an LED light bar, with unique bumper inserts for added style.

Nissan Patrol Y63: Interior and Features

Inside, the cabin is luxurious, featuring soft-touch materials and faux brushed aluminum. It has two 14.3-inch displays for instrumentation and infotainment. The traditional gear selector has been replaced by buttons, and a rotary selector manages terrain modes. The top variants offer a premium 12-speaker Klipsch sound system, along with rear-seat entertainment screens. Other features include wireless charging, USB-C ports in all rows, a head-up display, gesture control, and a 360-degree camera.

Nissan Patrol Y63: Powertrain and Performance

The new Patrol is powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine, producing 425hp and 700Nm of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox and full-time 4WD. It offers more power than its predecessor’s 5.6-litre V8. The SUV also comes with adaptive air suspension and multiple terrain modes, including Standard, Sand, Rock, and Eco.

Nissan Patrol Y63: Off-Road Pro-4X Variant

The rugged Pro-4X variant is designed for off-road enthusiasts. It features 20-inch all-terrain tires, a metal skid plate, and rear electronic-locking differentials. The Pro-4X also has an enhanced suspension for more ground clearance, making it a competitor to the Land Cruiser GR.

With its strong specs and features, the new Nissan Patrol Y63 could be a potential rival to the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 if launched in India.
