Kakasana Primary School Transformed into a Model Campus

ONGC CSR project & implemented by Ennoble brings a future-ready campus, benefiting over 156 students; Set new standards for government schools across Gujarat.
Mehsana: Kakasana Primary School in Becharaji, one of Mehsana district’s oldest village schools, has turned a new page—quite literally. What was once a dilapidated school is now a model campus benefiting over 156 students from the village and surrounding areas.
This composite transformation, – an ONGC CSR project and implemented by Ennoble, sets a benchmark for other government schools in the region—and indeed, across India. From structural repairs to classroom revitalization, from green campus elements to play zones and learning tech—Kakasana Primary School is now a model of what’s possible when purpose-driven partners come together.
Before the interventions, the school had long grappled with a deteriorating campus—cracked walls, leaky roofs, broken fences, poor ventilation, outdated or broken furniture, inadequate lighting, and missing teaching aids. Classrooms lacked the spark to inspire, with dull walls, empty reading spaces, and no access to modern technology. Playgrounds lay barren, with no swings, slides, or greenery. Even the kitchen and dining spaces were poorly equipped, affecting hygiene and the overall quality of the mid-day meals served to children.
Today, Kakasana Primary School stands proudly revitalized.
- For the first time, Kakasana Primary School now boasts a fully functional STEM lab, where students can engage with science beyond textbook learning. The hands-on experiments help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, while fostering a scientific temper. By experimenting with real-world projects, students will develop a deeper understanding of scientific concepts in an interactive, exciting way.
- Bright exteriors, colourful wall art, new roofing, paved grounds, bamboo fencing, solar panels, and new classroom furniture have created a welcoming and safe environment and increased pride in both students and teachers.
- Classroom facilities have been revamped with brighter lighting, new furniture, and the introduction of smartboards and digital teaching aids have led to improved attendance and interactive learning
- The new reading area promotes independent learning, while the improved dining spaces ensure that students enjoy safe, hygienic meals, contributing to better health and well-being.
- The addition of swings, slides, and other play equipment in the school grounds aims to support physical development and social interaction.
- The newly planted trees and green zones in the school grounds contribute to a sustainable environment and encourage environmental responsibility among students.
- The solar panels ensure energy efficiency, reducing the school’s carbon footprint and teaching students the importance of eco-consciousness & renewable energy.
A Teacher shared: “It’s a completely different school now! The colours and new signage make it feel like a fresh, inspiring place to learn. The new classrooms are brighter, and the furniture is much more comfortable—students can now focus and participate more actively. The reading area encourages them to engage with books on their own, which is so important for academic growth.”
Principal added: “The exterior is a reflection of the positive changes happening inside. The community feels proud of this transformation. The new roofing and dining spaces have made the school safer, and the improved classrooms create a more comfortable and productive environment. The students are now more involved, and the school’s enhanced environment is conducive to better learning outcomes.”
Student voices: “The smartboards make lessons more interesting, and we love using the STEM kits to do real experiments. I love the swings and slides! It’s also great that we have trees and solar panels now. The school feels more eco-friendly.”
