IPL 2025 Final: Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium Set to Host a Historic Clash

IPL 2025 Final: A Historic Clash at Narendra Modi Stadium

On June 3, 2025, the IPL 2025 final is set to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, featuring the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). Both teams are vying for their maiden IPL title, making this a historic encounter. The match is scheduled to commence at 7:30 PM IST.

Narendra Modi Stadium: A Monumental Venue

The Narendra Modi Stadium, previously known as the Sardar Patel Stadium, stands as the world’s largest cricket stadium with a seating capacity of 1.32 lakh spectators. Located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, this state-of-the-art facility boasts modern amenities, including 76 corporate boxes, a 55-room clubhouse, Olympic-sized swimming pool, and four dressing rooms. The stadium’s design incorporates advanced LED lighting systems that enhance visibility and reduce shadows on the pitch.

Weather Forecast: Rain Threatens the Final

The weather forecast for Ahmedabad on June 3 indicates a 66% chance of rain in the afternoon, with temperatures around 38°C and high humidity levels. However, conditions are expected to improve by evening, with rain chances dropping to 5%. Despite this, a 33% cloud cover could still pose challenges.

In case of rain delays, the IPL’s playing conditions allow for a minimum of five overs per side to constitute a match. If the match cannot be completed by 11:56 PM IST, a Super Over may be attempted if conditions permit. Should the Super Over also be unfeasible, the match will be rescheduled to a reserve day.

Ticket Sales and Flight Fare Surge

Tickets for the final have been in high demand, with 80,000 sold online. The Narendra Modi Stadium’s seating capacity is 1.32 lakh, with 25,000 seats reserved for various stakeholders. As a result, flight fares from cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Chandigarh to Ahmedabad have surged to approximately ₹25,000, compared to the usual ₹3,500–₹5,000. Additionally, morning flights on Wednesday, June 4, have seen fares rise to ₹30,000.

Transportation Arrangements

Metro Service: Ahmedabad Metro services will operate until 12:30 AM on match day. Special paper tickets, priced at ₹50, will be required for travel from select stations.

Bus Service: The Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) will run additional buses between 10:00 PM and 1:30 AM, charging a fare of ₹30 per passenger.

🇮🇳 Closing Ceremony: ‘Operation Sindoor’ Theme

The closing ceremony of the IPL 2025 final will feature the theme ‘Operation Sindoor,’ celebrating India’s military achievements. The event will include performances by singer Shankar Mahadevan and a display of the tricolor lighting across the stadium. Invitations have been extended to the chiefs of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, though confirmations are awaited.

Potential Outcomes in Case of Rain

If the final match is washed out due to rain, the team that finished higher in the points table during the league stage will be declared the winner. This rule ensures that performance throughout the season is recognized, even if the final match cannot be completed.

As the IPL 2025 final approaches, cricket enthusiasts eagerly await a thrilling contest between RCB and PBKS. While weather conditions may pose challenges, the spirit of the game and the pursuit of the coveted IPL trophy remain at the forefront of this historic match.
