Massive Civic-Health Partnership Unveiled on World Environment Day 2025; Ministers Vipul Goel & Rajesh Nagar Flag Off Campaign, Amrita Hospital Launches Student-Led ‘Green Friends Club’ to Inspire Sustainable Action

Faridabad, June 5, 2025 – In a landmark initiative to promote environmental stewardship and community-led sustainability, Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, in close collaboration with the Government of Haryana and the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad, today launched the ‘Clean and Green Faridabad’ campaign on the occasion of World Environment Day 2025.

The day’s events began with a ceremonial flag-off at Badkhal Mode, where Hon’ble Minister Shri Vipul Goel, along with Shri Rajesh Nagar, MLA from Tigaon, led the charge, urging the public to take ownership of the city’s ecological wellbeing. The campaign aims to transform Neharpar Faridabad and surrounding regions into role models of urban cleanliness, green innovation, and citizen engagement.

Shri Vipul Goel, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Govt. of Haryana, said, “World Environment Day is a reminder that every city, every citizen has a role to play in restoring the planet. The ‘Clean and Green Faridabad’ movement is not just a symbolic act—it is a powerful call to action. I congratulate Amrita Hospital for becoming a torchbearer of this change. When government, institutions, and the community work hand in hand, transformation is inevitable. Faridabad has the potential to become one of India’s cleanest and greenest cities.”

Following the flag-off, the celebrations continued at the Amriteshwari Auditorium of Amrita Hospital, where an impactful and heartwarming programme brought together environmental champions, school and college students, public representatives, and Faridabad’s civil society. The highlights of the programme included:

  • Inauguration of the ‘Green Friends Club’, a first-of-its-kind student-led environmental movement on the hospital campus aimed at inspiring youth participation in green projects, both on and off campus.
  • Premiere of the Amrita Hospital Campus Song, which celebrates community, care, and connection with nature.
  • Green Pledge Ceremony, where all present committed to responsible living and reducing their ecological footprint.

Shri Rajesh Nagar, Minister of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Deptt (Govt. of Haryana), added, “Faridabad, and particularly Neharpar, is growing rapidly—not just in infrastructure, but in aspirations. But development without sustainability is short-lived. What we do today will define the air our children breathe and the water they drink tomorrow. I wholeheartedly appreciate Amrita Hospital for stepping out of the conventional healthcare role and becoming a community change-maker. This is how real progress is made—at the intersection of health, environment, and humanity.”

Adding a spiritual and philosophical depth to the day’s significance, Swami Nijamritananda Puri, Administrative Director, Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, shared an inspiring perspective, “At Amrita, we believe in healing not only the body, but also the environment, which is the body of the Earth. Amma has always taught us that service to nature is service to God. Today, by launching the ‘Green Friends Club’ and partnering with the community, we are putting Amma’s vision into action. Every plant we nurture, every plastic we refuse, every child we educate—these are acts of spiritual significance. The path to sustainability begins with inner transformation.”

A special address was delivered by Shri Sanjeev Chadha, IFS (Retd.), who shared deep insights into India’s environmental priorities and global leadership in sustainable development. He emphasized the need for micro-level campaigns like this one, which create ripple effects on national and global scales.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from Municipal Corporation officials, doctors and faculty from Amrita School of Medicine, local schoolchildren, youth organizations, housing society leaders, and hundreds of concerned citizens. Together, they took the Green Pledge, vowing to incorporate eco-conscious choices in their daily lives—from conserving water and segregating waste to reducing plastic use and planting more trees.

With this campaign, Amrita Hospital Faridabad is not only reaffirming its commitment to health but also to the larger wellbeing of the environment and the society it serves.
