Marco Jansen’s helped South Africa to secure a decisive victory over Australia in the ongoing series.

Delhi: Left-arm fast bowler Marco Jansen dismissed the first five Australian batsmen to clinch a come-from-behind series win for South Africa in the fifth one-day international at the Wanderers Stadium on Sunday. Jansen took five for 39 as Australia were bowled out for 193 in reply to South Africa’s 315 for nine

Opting to bat after winning the toss, South Africa set a challenging target of 316 for Australia. The Proteas displayed a solid batting performance, with significant contributions from their top and middle order.Aiden Markram was the standout performer for South Africa, smashing a blistering 93 runs off 87 deliveries, featuring 9 fours and 3 sixes. He anchored the innings after the early departure of wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock, who managed 27 runs.

David Miller played a pivotal role, scoring 63 runs off 65 balls, supported by a fiery 47 off 23 balls from Marco Jansen and a quickfire 39 off 19 balls from Andile Phehlukwayo. The South African innings concluded at 315 for 9 after 50 overs.

In the Australian innings, Shaun Marsh and David Warner combined to score 34 runs off the first three overs, but Jansen stepped up to the plate and took two wickets in a single over for Warner and one for Inglis, leaving Australia in a tenuous position. 

Marsh then put on a 90-run partnership with Marnus Labuschagne, who scored 44 runs, before Jansen removed each of the set batsmen, as well as Alex Carey, in a sequence of three quick wickets in seven balls to give South Africa the upper hand.

As wickets fell at regular intervals, Australia was bowled out for just 193 runs in 34.1 overs, handing South Africa a convincing victory.
