South Africa Win By 149 Runs against Bangladesh
Delhi: South Africa crushed Bangladesh by 149 runs, moving up to second place on the points table. The Proteas already have 8 points in the ICC World Cup 2023, the same as New Zealand, but thanks to their large margin victories, the team has a best Net Run Rate and is second only to India on the points table. Centurion Mahmudullah’s heroic knock went in vain as Bangladesh were all out for 233 in a chase of 383.
Earlier, Quinton de Kock top-scored with a 174-run knock while Heinrich Klaasen hit 90 off 49 as South Africa posted a mammoth total of 382 for 5. Aiden Markram scored 60 while David Miller (34 not out off 15) also helped the team’s cause.
Bangladesh was chasing a big target of 383 runs against strong South Africa’s bowling attack. Openers Liton Das and Tanzid Hasan are playing cautiously while Marco Jansen and Lizaad Williams are leading South Africa’s pace attack. South African pacer Marco Jansen dismissed Tanzid Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto to provide initial shocks to Bangladesh batting. Lizaad Williams clinched another wicket and dismissed Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan to intensify the pressure. Centurion Mahmudullah’s heroic knock went in vain as Bangladesh were all out for 233 in a chase of 383.
