CM Yogi Flags Off Statewide Cleanliness Drive Ahead of Ayodhya Consecration Ceremony

New Delhi: Taking a firm step towards cleanliness and divine purity, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday launched the state-wide cleanliness drive from Ayodhya, marking the beginning of the Swachh Teerth Abhiyan. The initiative, which will run from January 15 to January 22, is in line with the upcoming consecration ceremony at the Ayodhya Ram temple.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the campaign from Lata Mangeshkar Chowk in Ayodhya, ministers, public representatives and various organizations participated in the campaign at various places across the state. The move comes in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to make Ayodhya the cleanest city in India, emphasizing the responsibility of Ayodhya residents in achieving this goal.

Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra inaugurated a special cleanliness drive at the Vidhan Bhawan Secretariat complex, stressing on the importance of maintaining cleanliness and imposing fines on littering with single-use plastics.

Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak actively participated in the campaign in major temples of Lucknow including Balkeshwar Hanuman Temple and Dakshinmukhi Hanuman Temple respectively. In line with PM Modi’s Cleanliness Week, the initiative aims to promote clean and healthy environment, encourage community participation in maintaining public spaces.

Mayor Sushma Kharkwal expressed the government’s commitment to establish a sustainable culture of cleanliness and hygiene while creating a positive impact on the overall well-being of the society. BJP leaders including state president Bhupendra Chaudhary also contributed to the campaign in different parts of the state.

In Mirzapur, in the presence of MLA Ratnakar Mishra and District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan, a comprehensive cleaning campaign was conducted in Maa Vindhyavasini Devi Dham and Ashtabhuja Temple. Over 209 temples and places of worship in the district witnessed enthusiastic participation from the public, promoting the moral, social and humanitarian values associated with Lord Shri Ram.

As the cleanliness campaign is gaining momentum, it not only shows the commitment towards cleanliness but also underlines the cultural and spiritual significance of Ayodhya in the hearts of the people.
