Skoda Superb Re-enters Indian Market as Completely Built Unit, Tagged at Rs 54 Lakh.
New Delhi: Skoda Auto India has reintroduced its flagship sedan, the Superb, to the Indian market, marking its comeback following its discontinuation due to compliance issues with BS6.2 norms. This time around, the Superb arrives as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and is offered solely in the Laurin & Klement (L&K) trim level, priced at Rs 54 lakh (ex-showroom). This reflects a substantial increase compared to its earlier price tag of Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom).
Under the hood, the Skoda Superb retains its 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, delivering 190bhp and 320Nm of torque, mated exclusively to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Notably, this powertrain complies with the BS6 phase 2 norms, addressing the reason for its temporary halt in production last year.
The L&K variant boasts a comprehensive set of features, including a 9-inch infotainment display supporting wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, complemented by a 10.2-inch instrument cluster. The front seats offer 12-way electric adjustment, with the driver benefiting from massage and memory functions. Other amenities include three-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and a powerful 610W Canton audio system featuring 11 speakers and a subwoofer.
Skoda has also equipped the Superb with Dynamic Chassis Control, offering four preset modes along with an individual mode. Exterior enhancements include LED headlamps with washers, LED fog lamps with cornering functionality, dynamic LED turn indicators, Active Chassis Control, and TPMS.
In terms of safety, the Superb is well-appointed with nine airbags and various safety technologies, earning it a 5-star adult and child occupant safety rating from Euro NCAP. Limited to just 100 units for the Indian market, customers can choose from Rosso Brunello and Water World Green color options.
While the Superb primarily competes with the Toyota Camry, priced at Rs 46.17 lakh (ex-showroom), its increased pricing also positions it against compact luxury sedans like the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, and C-Class, despite its larger dimensions.
