Lenovo Readying a ‘Lite’ Version of Lenovo Legion Go Handheld Gaming Device: Report
New Delhi: Lenovo launched the Legion Go handheld gaming PC in September last year, powered by AMD Ryzen Z1 series processors and running on Windows 11. This device, featuring detachable controllers similar to the Nintendo Switch, entered the market following the success of other portable gaming devices like the Steam Deck and Asus ROG Ally. Now, Lenovo is reportedly preparing to introduce a ‘Lite’ version of the Legion Go, following Asus’s recent announcement of an updated ROG Ally handheld.
According to a report by Windows Central, Lenovo’s Legion Go Lite will continue to utilize the AMD Ryzen Z1 series processors, but it will likely include some refinements over its predecessor. Although specific details about these updates are not yet available, the ‘Lite’ designation suggests potential hardware compromises to reduce the device’s cost. Speculation suggests that the Legion Go Lite could feature a smaller screen and might eliminate the detachable controllers, akin to the Nintendo Switch Lite, thus offering a more affordable price point. As of now, Lenovo has not provided any official details or a launch timeline for the Legion Go Lite. However, this move aligns with trends in the market, as manufacturers strive to cater to a broader audience with varied budget preferences. In parallel, Asus is preparing to launch the Asus ROG Ally X on June 2. This refreshed version is expected to feature a significantly larger battery, increased RAM, and a new black color option. Reports indicate that the ROG Ally X will come with an 80Whr battery and 24GB of LPDDR5 memory, compared to the 16GB RAM found in its predecessor.
The original Lenovo Legion Go was launched at IFA Berlin last September, priced at EUR 799 (approximately Rs. 70,000). It features an 8.8-inch QHD+ display with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, powered by AMD Ryzen Z1 series SoCs, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD.
