New Delhi: Tata Motors has confirmed that the Curvv SUV-coupe will launch in India on August 7. The Curvv will be the first mass-market SUV-coupe in India, serving as an alternative to midsize SUVs.

The Tata Curvv is based on the Nexon and shares a similar design language. It features Tata’s signature split-LED headlamp setup, gloss-black cladding on the sides, a split tail-lamp setup, and a distinct coupe-like roofline. EV and ICE models will likely have different bumpers and LED light signatures. The Curvv is 313mm longer than the Nexon, with a 62mm longer wheelbase.

The interior includes a four-spoke illuminated steering wheel from the Harrier and Safari. It also features a 10.25-inch screen for the instrument cluster and digital dials. The EV model may have unique switchgear and additional features similar to the Nexon EV. Other notable features will likely include a wireless charger, a 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, connected car features, and a panoramic sunroof.

The Tata Curvv will be powered by a new 125hp, 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, available with both manual and automatic gearboxes. Diesel versions will use the Nexon’s 1.5-litre, four-cylinder unit. The electric version will use Tata’s Gen 2 acti.ev architecture, likely offering a range of 450-500km.

Tata is expected to launch the Curvv EV first, with prices starting around Rs 20 lakh. This positions it above the Nexon EV and below the upcoming Harrier EV. The ICE version will launch sometime after the EV and could be priced around Rs 10 lakh-11 lakh.

The Curvv EV will compete with the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti eVX, and MG ZS EV, while the ICE will compete with midsize SUVs such as the Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Hyundai Creta.

The Tata Curvv is set to make a significant impact on the Indian SUV market with its innovative design, multiple powertrain options, and competitive pricing. Keep an eye out for its launch on August 7, and be ready to explore a new benchmark in the SUV-coupe segment.
