New Delhi: The Indian women’s cricket team has secured their place in the semifinals of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024, thanks to their stellar performance in the group stage. After winning all three of their league matches—against Pakistan, the UAE, and Nepal—India has emerged as one of the top contenders for the title.

The first semifinal of the tournament is set to take place at the Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla on Friday, July 26. The match will commence at 2:00 PM IST. India’s opponent for this crucial game is yet to be confirmed but is likely to be Bangladesh, who are poised to be the second team from Group B if they secure a victory over Malaysia. Should Bangladesh lose to Malaysia, Thailand would need to defeat Sri Lanka in an unlikely scenario for Bangladesh to miss the semifinal.

In Group A, Pakistan has also advanced, having qualified as the runners-up. They will face Sri Lanka, the leaders of Group B, in the second semifinal.

The matches will be broadcast live on Star Sports Network, and fans can catch the action via live streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

India’s squad for the tournament includes notable players such as Harmanpreet Kaur (Captain), Smriti Mandhana (Vice-Captain), Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Richa Ghosh among others. The team has displayed impressive form throughout the competition and will look to continue their winning streak in the semifinals.
