PV Sindhu Aims for Historic Third Olympic Medal in Paris with Rigorous Training and Confidence

New Delhi: Indian badminton star PV Sindhu is setting her sights on making history at the Paris Olympics 2024 by aiming for her third consecutive Olympic medal. Sindhu, who previously won a silver medal in Rio 2016 and a bronze in Tokyo 2020, is determined to add another medal to her collection despite a recent patchy performance. Her preparation for the Games has been intense, with significant effort devoted to training under the guidance of mentor Prakash Padukone.

To acclimate herself for the Paris conditions, Sindhu spent time at Sportcampus Saar in Saarbrucken, Germany, replicating the altitude and weather similar to the French capital. She utilized a hypoxic chamber in her room to simulate high-altitude training, a method she chose due to time constraints and the need to maintain her playing schedule. This innovative approach is designed to enhance her physical readiness for the challenges of the Olympics.

Sindhu has focused on refining her strokes and boosting her consistency during long rallies, which are crucial in women’s singles. She believes her enhanced confidence in these areas, combined with her strategic preparation, will be evident in her performances on the court.

Reflecting on her Olympic journey, Sindhu notes the differing pressures and experiences from past Games but remains optimistic about her chances in Paris. She views each Olympic event as a fresh challenge and is hopeful for a successful outcome, regardless of the exact medal count. Her comprehensive training and unwavering determination set the stage for a historic achievement.
