Gandhi reaffirmed his commitment to a nationwide caste census, a key election promise of the Congress for the 2024 general elections. He expressed resilience against what he perceived as attacks, stating, “Whoever raises the issues of Adivasi, Dalit, and the backward, is abused. I will happily accept these abuses.”
The caste census has become a contentious issue, with the Congress advocating it as a necessary X-ray of India to address socio-economic disparities. The debate continues to stir political waters as the country heads towards the next general elections.
