Air India Conducts Special Operation to Bring 205 People from Dhaka to Delhi

New Delhi: A special Air India flight safely  deported 205 individuals, including six infants, from Dhaka to New Delhi on Wednesday morning, as reported by an official. The chartered flight, operated with an A321 neo aircraft, departed from New Delhi late Tuesday without any passengers. Despite facing significant infrastructure challenges at Dhaka airport and working on very short notice, Air India successfully managed the operation. The flight included 199 adults and six infants, highlighting the urgency and importance of the mission.

Following this special operation, Air India announced the commencement of its scheduled operations, with two daily flights from New Delhi to Dhaka starting on Wednesday. This resumption of service comes amidst a backdrop of political unrest in Bangladesh. The country has been thrust into uncertainty following street protests over job quotas, which led to the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her subsequent departure from the country.

In addition to Air India’s efforts, other Indian carriers like Vistara and IndiGo are also maintaining their scheduled services to Dhaka. Vistara operates daily flights from Mumbai and three weekly flights from Delhi. IndiGo, on the other hand, typically runs one daily flight each from Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai, along with two daily services from Kolkata. Both airlines had canceled their Tuesday flights to Dhaka in light of the political turmoil.

The timely operation of these flights plays a crucial role in maintaining connectivity between India and Bangladesh, especially during periods of instability. These efforts also underscore the airlines’ commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of passengers amid challenging circumstances.
