New Delhi: Tata Motors is gearing up to introduce another powertrain option for its popular Nexon SUV. The upcoming variant is expected to feature a Diesel-DCT combination, adding to the existing range of powertrains, including the petrol-CNG option that’s also on the way.
Key Highlights:
- New Kryojet Engine: The Nexon diesel may come with a new 118hp, 1.5-litre Kryojet engine, an upgrade from the existing 115hp Revotorq engine.
- 7-Speed DCT Gearbox: The new variant will feature a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT) gearbox, similar to the one in the Tata Curvv.
- Panoramic Sunroof: A new top variant could include a panoramic sunroof, based on leaked images.
Tata Nexon Diesel DCT: What It Offers
The Nexon Diesel-DCT will be the second diesel SUV from Tata to feature a 7-speed DCT gearbox, complementing the existing AMT option. The new Kryojet engine is expected to be paired with this gearbox, offering enhanced power and performance. This variant may be positioned at the top of the Nexon lineup, potentially under the Nexon Fearless trim.
Inside, the Nexon Diesel-DCT is expected to bring additional features, including the much-anticipated panoramic sunroof, enhancing the premium feel of the SUV.
Launch and Competition
Upon its launch, the Nexon Diesel-DCT will compete with rivals like the XUV 3OO diesel automatic and the Kia Sonet diesel automatic, which come with different gearbox options. Although the exact launch date is not confirmed, the new variant is expected to hit showrooms soon.
With two engine options (Revotorq and Kryojet) and four gearbox choices (two manuals and two automatics), the Tata Nexon is set to offer even more versatility to potential buyers.
