New Delhi: Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to unveil the highly anticipated 5-door Mahindra Thar Roxx on Independence Day, August 15. Teasers have hinted at several exciting details, and now more information has come to light.
Color Options and Launch Date
The Thar Roxx will initially be available in two confirmed paint schemes: black and white. However, more color options will be announced during the launch. The SUV is expected to be priced between Rs 12.50 lakh and Rs 19 lakh (ex-showroom) and will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha.
Exterior Design
The Thar Roxx features a distinctive six-slat grille, complemented by new circular LED headlamps with integrated DRLs. The rugged front bumper houses LED fog lamps, while the taillamps are also LED units. The SUV rides on all-new diamond-cut alloy wheels, adding to its bold appearance. Additionally, the second-row door handles are mounted vertically on the doors, a unique design element.
Premium Interior Features
Inside, the Thar Roxx offers a premium cabin experience. Teasers suggest it will include a fully digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Other notable features include ventilated seats, automatic climate control, a wireless charger, a Harman Kardon sound system, an electric parking brake, a 360-degree camera setup, and a panoramic sunroof.
Advanced Technology
One of the standout features of the Thar Roxx is the expected inclusion of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). If confirmed, this would make it the third Mahindra SUV to feature ADAS, following the XUV700 and XUV 3OO.
Engine and Performance
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is likely to share its powertrains with the 3-door Mahindra Thar but with slight tuning differences. The smaller Thar offers a choice between a 1.5-litre D117 CRDe diesel, a 2.2-litre mHawk 130 CRDe diesel, and a 2.0-litre mStallion 150 TGDi petrol engine. Transmission options are expected to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic, with a 4WD setup confirmed for the Thar Roxx.
