Exciting Reveal: TVS Jupiter 125 CNG Scooter Set to Revolutionize the Market!
New Delhi: The Indian two-wheeler market, currently dominated by petrol-powered and electric scooters, is set to witness the introduction of CNG technology. The highly popular TVS Jupiter 125 will soon feature this innovative fuel option.
TVS has been exploring alternative fuel technologies and has now developed a CNG variant for the Jupiter 125. According to Autocar Professional, production of the TVS Jupiter 125 CNG scooter is expected to commence in September or October 2024. The launch could take place in the last quarter of 2024 or the first half of 2025, with TVS planning to sell 1,000 units per month initially
Currently, the TVS Jupiter 125 is equipped with a 124.8cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled engine, delivering 8.2PS of power and 10.5Nm of torque, paired with a CVT automatic transmission. The CNG variant will likely maintain these specifications while adding the benefits of CNG fuel efficiency.
The two-wheeler segment has already seen the introduction of the Bajaj Freedom 125, the world’s first CNG bike. Priced between Rs 95,000 and Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom), it features a 124.58cc engine, producing 9.5PS of power and 9.7Nm of torque, with a 5-speed gearbox. The Freedom 125 boasts a mileage of 102km/kg in CNG mode and 65km/l in petrol mode, offering a combined range of 334km.
As TVS prepares to launch the Jupiter 125 CNG scooter, anticipation is building. This new model promises to offer an eco-friendly alternative in the competitive 125cc scooter segment, making it an exciting development for Indian consumers.
