Mahindra Thar Roxx Price Revealed: Bold New SUV Takes On Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos with Aggressive Pricing
In Short:
New Delhi: Mahindra & Mahindra has unveiled the prices for several variants of its new SUV, the Mahindra Thar Roxx. This 5-door model is designed to compete with popular SUVs like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, while also challenging off-road vehicles like the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha.
Mahindra’s Ambitious Plans
Mahindra aims to dominate the “Rs 12.50 lakh plus” price category in the SUV market over the next three to five years, leveraging the Thar Roxx alongside its already successful Scorpio and XUV700 models. The Scorpio currently holds the top position in this segment, with the XUV700 in fifth place in terms of sales volume.
Innovative Engineering and Design
The Mahindra Thar Roxx boasts over 60 patents and is built on the new M_Glyde platform. This platform is 18% lighter at 179kg, yet offers 41% higher bending frequency and 51% higher torsional frequency. The SUV is made with over 88% high-strength steel, ensuring durability and performance.
Equipped with advanced 4X4 capabilities, the Thar Roxx features front independent double-wishbone suspension, rear penta-link suspension, and cutting-edge damper technologies. It also includes a brake locking differential at both the front and rear, an electric locking differential, and a water wading depth of 650mm.
Spacious and Powerful
The Thar Roxx has a longer wheelbase of 2,850mm compared to the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, which both have a 2,610mm wheelbase. This new SUV also offers a massive 644 liters of boot space.
Engine options include the powerful G20 TGDI mStallion petrol engine (177PS and 380Nm) and the D22 mHawk diesel engine (175PS and 370Nm). Transmission choices are a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed Aisin AT, with both RWD and AWD variants available. The SUV comes with two drive modes—Zip and Zoom—and three terrain modes—Sand, Mud, and Snow. Additional features like SmartCrawl and Intelliturn enhance the off-roading experience.
Safety and Features
Safety is a priority in the Mahindra Thar Roxx, which includes over 35 standard safety features such as six airbags and 3-point seatbelts for all seats. The exterior is equipped with an all-LED lighting system, including headlamps, DRLs, fog lamps, and taillamps. The SUV rides on 19-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the Thar Roxx is packed with premium features. These include 10.25-inch dual screens for infotainment and instrumentation, automatic climate control, a six-way powered driver seat, front ventilated seats, a Harman Kardon audio system, wireless charging, a 360-degree surround-view system, and a panoramic sunroof. The Adrenox technology offers over 80 connectivity features, and the SUV is equipped with Level-2 ADAS, making it the third Mahindra vehicle to offer this advanced safety system.
