Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Crosses 200,000 Units in Sales
New Delhi: The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara has achieved a remarkable milestone, crossing 200,000 units in sales within just 23 months since its launch in September 2022. This feat makes it the fastest mid-size SUV to reach this sales figure, outpacing rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, and MG Astor.
The Grand Vitara’s journey to this milestone saw it selling the first 100,000 units within a year, with the next 100,000 units sold in just 10 months. Maruti Suzuki attributes this success to the strong demand for its strong hybrid and S-CNG variants, although specific sales numbers for these variants were not disclosed. The SUV claimed a 12% market share in the mid-size SUV segment during Q1 FY25, according to Maruti Suzuki.
Priced between Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 20.09 lakh (ex-showroom), the Grand Vitara offers a variety of powertrains. It includes a 1.5-litre intelligent electric hybrid powertrain paired with an e-CVT, delivering a combined power output of 115bhp and 122Nm of torque. Another option is the 1.5-litre K-series dual jet, dual VVT engine with smart hybrid technology, which produces 103bhp and 137Nm of torque. Transmission options range from a 5-speed manual to a 6-speed automatic, along with a CNG variant (87bhp/121Nm) available with a 5-speed manual transmission. The K-series engine also offers a four-wheel drive option (Suzuki’s All Grip technology) with various drive modes.
The Grand Vitara boasts an array of features, including a 9-inch Smart Play Pro+ entertainment system, head-up display, 360-degree camera, wireless charger, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, Clarion premium sound system, and PM 2.5 air cabin filter. Safety is a priority, with six airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and the newly-introduced Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) in its strong hybrid variant.
