Tata Altroz Racer Launched in India Starting at Rs 9.49 Lakh

New Delhi: Tata Motors has unveiled the highly anticipated Tata Altroz Racer, marking a sportier and more powerful chapter for the popular hatchback. Priced from Rs 9.49 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards, the Altroz Racer replaces the i-Turbo range and positions itself as the new range-topping variant.
The Altroz Racer boasts a starting price of Rs 9.49 lakh (ex-showroom), reaching Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-end variant. Offered in three trims – R1, R2, and R3 – the sporty hatchback caters to a range of buyer preferences.

Visually, the Altroz Racer sheds its conventional look for a more aggressive stance. The blacked-out bonnet and roof, coupled with racing stripes, instantly convey its sporty character. Three color options – Pure Grey, Avenue White, and Atomic Orange – allow for personalization. “Racer” badges on the front fenders and a subtly redesigned front grille further distinguish it from the standard Altroz. The 16-inch alloy wheels remain unchanged.
Stepping inside, the Altroz Racer boasts a plethora of features, including a segment-first voice-assisted sunroof, a 360-degree camera system, and ventilated front seats. A larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system replaces the standard unit, complemented by a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Safety remains a priority, with ABS, ESC, and six airbags offered as standard across all trims.

The cabin gets a makeover with new leatherette upholstery featuring contrast stitching. Color-specific accents around the air conditioning vents and gear lever add a touch of personalization.
Performance receives a significant upgrade with the inclusion of a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine borrowed from the Nexon SUV. This potent unit generates 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, replacing the 5-speed option available on the i-Turbo variants.

The Tata Altroz Racer directly competes with established rivals like the Hyundai i20 N Line, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, and Toyota Urban Cruiser. With its striking design, feature-rich interior, and enhanced performance, the Altroz Racer is poised to attract buyers seeking a sporty and well-equipped hatchback in the Indian market.
