Anticipated: Trade Body Forecasts a Whopping Rs 1 Trillion Market as Lord Ram-Themed T-Shirts and Flags Witness High Demand.

Trade body etimates business worth Rs 1 lakh crore ahead of Ram Temple inauguration

New Delhi: The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has predicted a turnover of approximately Rs 1 lakh crore as the ‘pran pratishta’ ceremony of Lord Ram’s idol approaches in Ayodhya on January 22. This estimation has been derived from feedback received from trade associations across 30 cities, encompassing expenses related to goods, services, and various event arrangements tied to the occasion.

Initially, CAIT had anticipated a business turnover of Rs 50,000 crore, considering the immense fervor surrounding the inauguration of the Ram temple. However, the projection has now been revised to Rs 1 lakh crore. Praveen Khandelwal, the national secretary-general of CAIT, attributes this surge in trade to the extraordinary enthusiasm generated by the temple.

According to Khandelwal, the event holds significant religious sentiments while also catalyzing a remarkable boost in economic activities. He further remarks on the faith and trust of people, which have resulted in the creation of numerous new businesses rooted in the country’s traditional economic system. Recognizing the dedication of businesses and different segments of society towards the Ram Mandir, Khandelwal emphasizes the revision of the turnover estimate.

Nationwide, an array of around 30,000 different programs, including processions, rallies, and padyatras, are being organized in light of the upcoming ceremony. Markets are witnessing a substantial demand for merchandise featuring images of Lord Ram and the Ayodhya temple, ranging from flags, banners, caps, T-shirts, to printed kurtas. Furthermore, the demand for models of the Ram Mandir has surged, with an estimated sale of over five crore models throughout the country. Consequently, small manufacturing units in various states are operating round the clock to meet this demand.

Devotional musical programs are also being arranged on a grand scale, resulting in increased job opportunities for traditional musical instrument players and artisans involved in the preparation of tableaus for the Shobha Yatra. Khandelwal perceives this as a unique moment that symbolizes a significant transformation, showcasing India’s deep-rooted dedication to its historical and religious values.

In Delhi, major markets are actively planning over 200 dialogue programs, 1,000 assemblies, kirtans, recitations, 24-hour chanting of Ramayana, and devotional music evenings leading up to January 22. The city’s markets, both major and smaller ones, are being adorned with Lord Ram flags, decorations, and lights. Additionally, thousands of clay lamps will illuminate all markets and shops on the auspicious day
