New Delhi: In a significant event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the redeveloped Ayodhya Dham Junction railway station, a project that marks a significant advancement in India’s railway infrastructure. The ceremony held on December 30, 2023, not only saw the unveiling of the ₹240 crore Ayodhya Dham Junction but also the introduction of new Amrit Bharat and Vande Bharat trains, adding a new chapter to the country’s rail network.

Ayodhya Dham Junction Railway Station, developed at a cost of more than ₹240 crore, is a testament to modernity and convenience. The three-storey building is a wonderful building equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as lifts, escalators, food plaza and shops catering to the puja needs. The inclusivity factor is highlighted by its accessibility for all, with the station building proudly earning the ‘IGBC-Certified Green Station Building’ designation.

PM Modi’s grand unveiling and rail network expansion

Prime Minister Modi, who reached Ayodhya amid a warm welcome from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, not only inaugurated the Ayodhya Dham Junction but also flagged off two Amrit Bharat and six Vande Bharat Express trains. Amrit Bharat Express, a new category of superfast trains, brings non-air-conditioned coaches with locomotives at both ends, offering advanced amenities like beautifully designed seats, mobile charging points, LED lights, and more.

Vande Bharat Express trains running on routes like Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-New Delhi and Mangalore-Madgaon were also inaugurated, marking the beginning of a new era of connectivity.

Development projects worth billions of dollars unveiled

PM Modi’s visit was not limited to the inauguration of the railway station; He also dedicated to the nation several other railway projects worth more than Rs 15,000 crore. Of this, ₹11,100 crore has been allocated for the development of Ayodhya and its surrounding areas, while ₹4,600 crore has been earmarked for various projects across Uttar Pradesh. The projects include infrastructure enhancements and initiatives to strengthen rail connectivity in the region.
