Ayodhya’s Sky Gateway: PM Modi to inaugurate state-of-the-art international airport

New Delhi: In a significant development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport in Ayodhya on December 30. This state-of-the-art aviation hub has been built at cost by the government-owned Airports Authority of India. Worth ₹350 crore, it boasts of state-of-the-art facilities to handle 500 domestic passengers during peak hours and serve over four million passengers annually.

The airport’s infrastructure includes one runway designed for Airbus A321 and Boeing 737 aircraft, with plans for expansion to accommodate widebody aircraft in the future. Recently granted an airport license by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation for public use in all weather conditions, the Ayodhya airport has nine check-in counters, three conveyor belts, 75 car parking slots and two bus slots, which Ensure uninterrupted operation.

This milestone coincides with the Prime Minister’s visit ahead of the eagerly awaited consecration ceremony at the Ram temple on January 22. During his visit, PM Modi will also inaugurate the renovated railway station in Ayodhya, which will give a massive boost to the connectivity of the region.

Anticipating a surge in air traffic, domestic airlines have increasingly announced non-stop flights from Ayodhya to major cities. Air India Express and IndiGo are among the carriers planning inauguration and daily services, which will begin operations from January 6.

As Ayodhya’s aviation landscape takes off, officials are hinting at the possibility of international flights in the later stages, establishing the city as a major player on the global air travel map.
