Pakistan Condemns Ayodhya Ram Temple Consecration, Labels It as India’s Majoritarianism

New Delhi: Pakistan has strongly condemned the consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya, calling it a sign of India’s growing majoritarianism. The country’s Foreign Office in a statement criticized India’s senior judiciary for acquitting those responsible for the demolition of the Babri Masjid and allowing the construction of the temple in its place.

The statement described the developments at the investiture ceremony as a symbol of growing majoritarianism in India, which is an attempt to marginalize Indian Muslims socially, economically and politically. Pakistan termed the demolition of the mosque a blot on India’s democracy and highlighted the growing list of mosques, including the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi and the Shahi Idgah Mosque in Mathura, that are facing similar threats of desecration and destruction.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry accused India of promoting Hindutva ideology and expressed concern that it could threaten regional peace. It called on the international community, including the United Nations, to address “rising Islamophobia” and protect Islamic heritage sites in India from extremist groups while ensuring the rights of religious and cultural minorities.

The statement urged global organizations to play a role in protecting religious and cultural diversity in India and preventing marginalization of minority communities.

The consecration ceremony, which was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thousands of dignitaries, marked a historic moment for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, as ordered by the Supreme Court of India in 2019.

Please note that the statements made in this report are based on the view of the Foreign Office of Pakistan and do not necessarily reflect broader opinion.
