New Delhi: The recently concluded grand pran pratishtha event at the Ayodhya Ram Temple revealed intricate details about the divine ornaments adorning Lord Ram Lalla. Here’s a glimpse into the significance of each piece, making the idol’s ensemble truly divine.

1. Silver Toys for the Young Deity: As Lord Ram Lalla is depicted as a five-year-old, silver toys like a rattle, elephant, horse, camel, toy cart, and spinning top have been placed in front of the idol for playful engagement.

2. Crown with Surya Dev Emblem: The gold crown, following North Indian tradition, is embedded with rubies, emeralds, and diamonds. The centre features an emblem of Surya Dev, with strands of pearls woven on the right side.

3. Kaustubha Mani: Adorning the heart of the idol, this gem, decorated with a large ruby and diamonds, is worn as per scriptures by all incarnations of Vishnu.

4. Vijayamala – Symbol of Victory: The longest necklace symbolizing victory is made of gold and studded with rubies. It includes Vaishnava symbols like Sudarshana chakra, lotus, shankh, and the mangal kalash.

5. Other Jewellery Pieces: The crescent-shaped Kantha necklace features floral designs symbolizing good fortune, with an image of Surya Dev at the centre. Padika, a five-stranded piece above the navel, is made of diamonds and emeralds. Kanchi, a detailed gold waistband, symbolizes purity with small bells.

6. Adornments on Limbs and Hands: The idol wears bhujbandh (armlets), kangan (bangles), and rings. Lord Ram Lalla’s feet are adorned with anklets and toe rings studded with diamonds and rubies. The left hand holds a gold bow with pearls and emeralds, while the right hand clutches an arrow.

7. Silver-Red Tilak: The forehead tilak is made with diamonds and rubies, enhancing the deity’s divine appearance.

8. Yellow Dhoti and Red Pataka: Lord Ram Lalla’s attire includes a Banarasi fabric yellow dhoti and a red pataka/angavastram with intricate zari and thread work featuring Shankh, Padma, Chakra, and Mayur motifs.

These exquisite ornaments, meticulously crafted by Shri Ankur Anand’s institution, Harsahaimal Shiamlal Jewellers in Lucknow, are based on extensive research of scriptures, including Adhyatma Ramayana, Valmiki Ramayana, Ramcharitmanas, and Alavandar Stotra. The vibrant yellow dhoti and red pataka/angavastram were designed by Delhi’s textile artist Manish Tripathi, adding a touch of tradition and elegance to Lord Ram Lalla’s divine ensemble.
