Budget 2024 Live Updates: Nirmala Sitharaman Holds Pre-Budget Meetings Today as India Awaits Union Budget Presentation
New Delhi: With the Narendra Modi-led NDA government newly sworn in, all eyes are now on the announcement of the full Budget for FY25. While there is no official announcement on the date of the presentation of the Union Budget, media reports indicate that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to table the Budget in the third week of July. This timing coincides with the commencement of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, set to begin on July 22 and likely to continue until August 9.
Finance Minister Sitharaman has been actively engaging with key stakeholders in preparation for the Budget. She recently held pre-Budget consultations with leading experts from the financial and capital markets sectors in New Delhi. Additionally, she met with industry stakeholders and prominent economists on June 20, 2024, to gather insights and recommendations for the forthcoming Union Budget 2024-25.
This upcoming Budget will be the first under the Modi 3.0 administration and is poised to be historic. Nirmala Sitharaman is on track to become the first finance minister to deliver seven consecutive Budget presentations, comprising six complete budgets and one interim. This achievement will surpass the record held by Morarji Desai, marking a significant milestone in India’s financial history.
As the Monsoon Session approaches, the nation eagerly awaits the Union Budget presentation, which is expected to address various economic challenges and set the tone for India’s financial trajectory under the renewed Modi government.
