Jammu and Kashmir Police Issue Sketches of Terrorists, Offer ₹5 Lakh Reward Amid Ongoing Operations

Sketches

New Delhi: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have recently released sketches of four terrorists who were last spotted in the Dhoks of Malhar, Bani, and Seojdhar areas in Kathua district. Alongside this, a ₹5 lakh reward has been announced for credible information leading to their capture.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the police urged the public to come forward with any actionable information. The post read, “Kathua Police releases sketches of 04 terrorists who were last seen in Dhoks of Malhar, Bani & Seojdhar. A reward of ₹5 lakhs is offered for each terrorist based on actionable information. Anyone providing credible leads will also be suitably rewarded.”

This move comes in the wake of several recent terrorist incidents in the Jammu region. Notable among these is the terror attack on an army convoy in Kathua and multiple encounters in Doda and Udhampur. On August 6, a significant search and destroy operation was initiated in the Khaneed area of Basantgarh, Udhampur district, following intelligence on terrorist movements. DIG Udhampur Reasi Range Rayees Mohammad Bhat reported that contact had been made with a group of terrorists, and efforts are ongoing to neutralize them. The operation is complicated by the region’s hilly terrain and current foggy, rainy conditions, which limit visibility.

Additionally, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai highlighted that there have been two attacks on pilgrims in the past five years, resulting in 14 casualties. The security forces remain vigilant as they continue their efforts to address and counter the threat posed by these terrorist activities.
