“Russia to be represented by its Foreign Minister at the G20 Summit”

Delhi: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the President of the Russian Federation, H.E. Mr. Vladimir Putin, engaged in a telephone discussion. They discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation and exchanged perspectives on global and regional matters of shared interest, including the recently concluded BRICS Summit in Johannesburg.

President Putin expressed his regret for not being able to attend the upcoming G20 Summit scheduled for September 9-10, 2023, in New Delhi. Instead, he conveyed that the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, H.E. Mr. Sergey Lavrov, would represent Russia at the event. Prime Minister Modi acknowledged and accepted Russia’s decision, while expressing gratitude for Russia’s unwavering support to India’s responsibilities during its G20 Presidency. Both leaders agreed to maintain open communication going forward.
