Lohum Foundation Inspires Young Changemakers at Varanasi Schools with Sustainability Program
Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, May 07, 2025: As part of a state-wide campaign to spread sustainability education across Uttar Pradesh starting in east U.P., the Lohum Foundation for sustainability education-an initiative by Lohum, India’s largest producer of sustainable critical materials-conducted a workshop at Gulistan School, Modern public School and National Inter College, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh today.
The Lohum Foundation’s mission is to make sustainability education accessible, engaging, and fun for children of all backgrounds. This initiative aligns with the progressive vision of the Uttar Pradesh government, which has made significant strides in promoting environmental awareness and green initiatives, leading the nation in electric vehicle adoption at 19% of India’s total, and mandating environmental studies in schools. The Lohum Foundation is proud to support and amplify this momentum through its educational outreach.
The workshop at Varanasi Schools brought together students aged 7–15 for hands-on activities, interactive discussions, and real-world problem-solving exercises where they learned about sustainability concepts, the importance of protecting the environment, and practical steps for adopting a sustainable lifestyle. The Foundation’s different initiatives – workshops, camps, e-waste drives have already enrolled over 5,000 children in their Sustainability Superheroes Club, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to drive positive change in their own communities.
