Narayana Health Transforms Student Well-being at Nathupur School

Gurugram, 02 May, 2025Clean Toilets, Safe Water, and a Healthier Tomorrow — Thanks to Narayana Health and Ennoble, a quiet but powerful transformation has taken place at the Government Senior Secondary School situated in Siris Road, DLF Phase -3, Nathupur, Gurugram, Haryana

What was once a worn-down space—where broken toilets and peeling walls made daily school life difficult—is now a vibrant campus with clean, functional facilities and a renewed sense of dignity.

This change comes through a meaningful collaboration, rooted in the shared belief that every child deserves to grow up in a clean, safe, and healthy environment. Recognizing that Gurugram grapples with challenges such as high rates of early child marriage and limited education opportunities for girl children, this initiative also places a strong emphasis on empowering young girls through education. According to the Annual Status of Education Report (ASER), similar regions have seen alarming dropout rates among girls linked to inadequate infrastructure and socio-economic pressures. By creating a welcoming and hygienic school environment, the program aims to encourage families to keep their daughters in school, fostering long-term community transformation and greater gender equity.

A Focus on Health and Hygiene Where It Matters Most

The school’s old sanitation blocks—damaged, dark, and unsafe—have been completely rebuilt. New plastering, tiling, plumbing, doors, and fully functional W.C. and urinal pots now provide students, especially adolescent girls, with the privacy and hygiene they need.

Lighting and exhaust fans have been added to improve air quality and visibility—small touches that make a significant difference to students’ comfort and confidence.

Access to drinking water, once a daily struggle, is now resolved with a dedicated water turf and plumbing that ensures safe hydration throughout the school day.

Beyond these essential upgrades, the campus has received a much-needed facelift—crack repairs, fresh coats of paint, and cheerful artwork have breathed new life into the space. The result is an inviting and dignified learning environment that every child deserves to experience each day.

Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Ajay Kohli, Director, Narayana Health, said:
“We’ve always believed that health begins far beyond the hospital walls. It begins with clean water, with safe sanitation, with dignity in everyday life. This project is our way of reaching young lives at a point where good health habits truly begin.”

Ankit Shrimali, CSR Head of Narayana Health, added:
“At Narayana Health, we strive to foster healthier communities. By supporting such we aim to instil early health and hygiene practices among children. This aligns with our commitment to preventive care, especially in paediatrics, ensuring a healthier future for the next generation.”

Chirag Bhandari, CEO of Ennoble, echoed this sentiment:
“Health and education—the two paths that must cross—are deeply linked. We’ve seen firsthand how something as basic as a working toilet or access to clean water can transform a child’s school experience. It affects attendance, confidence, and well-being. We’re proud to partner with Narayana Health, whose commitment to community well-being made this change possible.”
