DUNKI Teaser Delights: Shah Rukh Khan and Rajkumar Hirani’s Immigrant Dreams Unveil Comedy and Drama
NEWDELHI: Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film “Dunki” is set to release on December 22, creating a box office clash with Prabhas’ “Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire.” This marks Shah Rukh’s third film of the year, following the blockbusters “Pathaan” and “Jawan.” The teaser for “Dunki” was unveiled on Shah Rukh Khan’s 58th birthday, offering fans a glimpse into the highly anticipated film, which also marks his first collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani.
The teaser introduces a group of individuals dressed in black crossing a desert, with a sharpshooter taking aim at them. As the shot is fired, the teaser takes viewers back in time to Punjab, where a group of friends, including Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, and Vicky Kaushal, aspires to work and live in London. Shah Rukh’s character, Hardy, is determined to help his friends reach London by any means necessary.
“Dunki” is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, Rajkumar Hirani Films, and Jio Studios and is set to hit theaters in India on December 22. The film will face off against Prabhas’ “Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire.”
In an interview last year, Shah Rukh Khan had explained that “Dunki” actually means “donkey” in English, but the pronunciation in a certain region of India is “dunki.” He described the film as a comic journey, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, known for blending comedy and emotional depth in his films. “Dunki” takes audiences on a journey through various parts of the world before returning to India.
