90-Foot Hanuman Murti Becomes a Cultural Landmark in Texas

New Delhi: A towering 90-foot-tall bronze murti of Lord Hanuman has been unveiled in Sugar Land, Texas, marking a significant milestone in the cultural and spiritual landscape of the United States. Named the “Statue of Union,” this magnificent sculpture stands as the third tallest statue in the U.S., surpassed only by the Statue of Liberty in New York (151 feet) and the Pegasus and Dragon in Hallandale Beach, Florida (110 feet).

The Statue of Union is not only a striking landmark visible from miles away but also holds the distinction of being the tallest Hanuman murti outside India and the tallest statue in Texas. Erected at the Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple in Sugar Land, located about 35 kilometers from Houston, the statue was unveiled during a grand Prana Prathishta Mahotsavam ceremony held from August 15 to 18.

Organizers of the event emphasized that the Statue of Union symbolizes “selflessness, devotion, and unity,” key attributes associated with Lord Hanuman. The name “Statue of Union” was chosen to honor Hanuman’s pivotal role in reuniting Lord Ram and Sita, underscoring the deep spiritual significance of the murti.

The unveiling of this massive statue has transformed it into a new cultural and spiritual landmark in Texas, drawing attention from devotees and visitors alike. As one of the tallest statues in the world, the Hanuman murti represents a powerful testament to the growing influence and presence of Indian culture and spirituality in America. The statue is expected to become a major attraction, reflecting the rich heritage and religious diversity of the region.
