Ayodhya Gears Up for Historic Selection of Ram Lalla Idol

New Delhi: The anticipation of selection of the divine idol of Ramlala for the grand temple in the center of Ayodhya is reaching its peak. An expert panel of five revered saints appointed by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is set to take a landmark decision later this month. This decisive moment marks a significant step in the construction of the Ayodhya temple, a project that has captured the imaginations and hearts of millions.

Created by eminent sculptors Ganesh Bhatt, Arun Yogiraj and Satya Narayan Pandey, three statues are currently taking shape, sourced from the rich stones of Karnataka and Rajasthan. Based on the meticulous sketches of renowned artist Vasudev Kamath, these statues are not just statues; They are symbols of deeply cherished cultural and religious heritage.

The selection process, which takes place between December 15 and 20, adds an element of mystery to this important event. Each idol, a representation of five-year-old Ram Lalla, is a work of art striving for aesthetic closeness to the divine deity. Mahant Kamal Nayan Das, a member of the selection panel, insists on a single criteria: the idol chosen should resonate with the essence of Ram Lalla.

What makes this unveiling even more spectacular is the procession planned in Ayodhya on January 17. The selected 51-inch statue will be taken across the city, a symbolic journey echoing centuries of devotion. This auspicious program will take place on January 22 before the installation of the idol in the sanctum sanctorum of Ram temple.

With the sacred ritual of Pran Pratishtha beginning on January 18, a five-day festival will be celebrated to commemorate the consecration of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya. The culmination of these events symbolizes not only the physical construction of a temple, but also the spiritual culmination of a fervent collective aspiration, uniting communities in reverence and joy. The grand scene promises to mark its significance in the annals of history, as Ayodhya prepares to welcome the divine incarnation of Lord Rama.
