Ayodhya on High Alert: Security Tightened Ahead of Babri Masjid Demolition Anniversary.

New Delhi: In anticipation of the 31st anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition on December 6, the local administration in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, has heightened security measures, aiming to prevent any untoward incidents. Tightened security includes rigorous monitoring of individuals entering and leaving the city through CCTV cameras and verification of their identity cards. Vehicle checks have been intensified across various areas in Ayodhya. Ayodhya Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajkaran Nayyar emphasized the importance of avoiding the spread of rumors and creating confusion among the public. The police deployment involves teams in different sectors, with additional forces called in from nearby districts and the Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) of the UP Police. The comprehensive security system aims to prevent any potential incidents and maintain order during the commemoration.

The historic event in 1992, where the Babri Masjid was demolished by a large group of ‘kar sevaks’ in Ayodhya, triggered a series of unfortunate events. Following the demolition, numerous Muslim residents in Ayodhya experienced violence, with their homes being ransacked, torched, and destroyed. The aftermath led to riots in various parts of the country, resulting in the tragic loss of over 1,000 lives. As the anniversary approaches, the heightened security measures underscore the authorities’ commitment to maintaining peace and preventing any recurrence of violence or unrest in Ayodhya.
