Bank of Baroda launches the 6th edition of ‘Baroda Kisan Pakhwada’ in Uttar Pradesh, an annual outreach for Indian farmers
Ayodhya: Bank of Baroda has launched the 6th edition of Baroda Kisan Pakhwada, a two-week farmer engagement program focusing on the Indian agrarian economy. The event runs from November 16 to November 30, 2023, culminating in Baroda Kisan Diwas celebrations.
As part of Baroda Kisan Pakhwada, Bank of Baroda’s Lucknow Zone is organizing a Mega Kisan Mela in Ayodhya on November 24, 2023. The bank aims to engage 1,00,000 farmers in Lucknow zone through various outreach events during the fortnight. The Lucknow zone encompasses key areas in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh, including Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Raebareli, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Ambedkar Nagar, Lucknow, Sultanpur, and Fatehpur.
The Mega Kisan Mela in Ayodhya was inaugurated by Shri Ajay K. Khurana, Executive Director, Bank of Baroda and Shri Samira Ranjan Panda, General Manager & Zonal Head – Lucknow Zone, Bank of Baroda.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ajay K. Khurana, Executive Director, Bank of Baroda said, “Bank of Baroda has a loyal and strong base of agri customers and is one of the leading banks servicing the agriculture sector. We are pleased to organise this Mega Kisan Mela in Ayodhya. In Lucknow zone of Uttar Pradesh, over 675 branches will participate in this year’s Baroda Kisan Pakhwada. We will be organising a number of programmes such as farmer meets, choupals and kisan melas, which will help us to boost engagement with the farming community and fulfil the banking & financing requirements of our esteemed agri customers.”
In the Lucknow zone, Bank of Baroda operates 859 branches, with 605 in semi-urban/rural areas. Year-on-year, agricultural sector loans in the zone grew by 10.7% as of September 30, 2023. In the 2022 Baroda Kisan Pakhwada, the bank organized 2,933 contact programs, connecting with over 91,000 farmers and sanctioning agricultural loans exceeding Rs 240 crore.
During Baroda Kisan Pakhwada, Bank of Baroda will raise awareness among farmers about initiatives like “Ghar-Ghar KCC Abhiyaan” for Kisan Credit Cards. The event aims to inform farmers about the bank’s agri products, schemes and delivery channels. Additionally, it will promote Atmanirbhar Bharat schemes, including Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund, Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme, etc.
