Chhath Puja gaining popularity across Globe

Apart from celebrating Tradition Indian festivals like Holi, Durga Puja and Deepawali, the Chhath Puja also gaining popularity among the Bihar- Jharkhand community across other countries as well.

People of Bihari community living across the seven seas from India, have not forgotten the tradition of celebrating Chhath Puja. On Chhath festival, everyone together makes Prasad. After cleaning the ghat, they worship Lord Surya with devotion.

Europe: People of Bihar may live away from their city and family anywhere in the world, but they do not forget the tradition of celebrating Chhath, the great festival of folk faith. Like previous years, this time also more than 75 families from Bihar have started preparations to celebrate Chhath purv with pomp in the city of Edinburgh, Scotland, a European country.

In USA, several states across the US, including California, Arizona, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, North Carolina and Washington DC, celebrated Chhath Puja. Last year hundreds of Bihari-Indian-Americans gathered at river banks, lakes and makeshift water bodies across the United States to worship the Sun God as they celebrated the popular Hindu festival of Chhath Puja. The Bihar Jharkhand Association of North America (BJANA) organized the Chhath Puja across the country.

The members of BAJCA-Bihar and Jharkhand association of Canada also organising Chhath puja in Toronto since last few years.

Bihar & Jharkhand Sabha host Chhath Puja in Auckland, New Zealand and Melbourne in Australia also.

Last year Chhath Puja, the pride festival of Bihar, has been be organized on a large scale in London, on a large scale in England by Bihari Connect UK Group.

During this four-day festival many types of religious rituals and customs take place during the four days, in which Arghya is offered to the setting and rising sun. Chhath Puja: First day Nahay-Khay, second day Kharna, third day evening Arghya, and in the fourth day this festival ends with Usha Arghya.

This is the only festival in which Arghya is offered to the rising and setting sun. The aim of this great festival is to tell the whole world the importance of worshiping the Sun and nature. From Nov 17 this year four-day Chhath Parv will start with Nahay Khay will end of Nov 20.
