Courageous Women Fight Tiger to Save Friend in Uttarakhand Forest
New Delhi: In Uttarakhand’s Champawat district, a remarkable tale of bravery unfolded as two women valiantly defended their friend from a tiger attack. Geeta Devi, 36, had been collecting fodder with her friends Janki Devi, 36, and Parvati Devi, 37, when a tiger suddenly ambushed her.
The tiger swiftly pounced on Geeta, dragging her toward the forest. Without hesitation, Janki and Parvati sprang into action. Armed with sticks and sickles, they fought back the fierce predator, even resorting to pelting stones to save their friend.
Their courageous efforts paid off as the tiger retreated into the dense forest, leaving Geeta severely injured but alive. Bleeding and nearly unconscious, Geeta was rushed to a Tanakpur hospital, where she received 24 stitches for head injuries. Fortunately, she’s now out of danger but has been referred to a medical centre in Haldwani for further care.
Forest ranger Gulzar Hussain praised the quick thinking and bravery of Janki and Parvati, confirming the presence of the tiger in the area. As a precaution, villagers are advised against entering the jungle, and patrols in the region have been heightened.
This incredible act of bravery by two friends risking their lives to save another is a testament to human courage and solidarity in the face of danger.
