Cyclone Alert: Kutch District Residents Advised to Relocate for Safety

New Delhi: In response to a severe weather alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), authorities in Gujarat’s Kutch district have urged residents living in huts and makeshift houses to seek safer shelter. The IMD has predicted that a deep depression currently over the area could intensify into a cyclonic storm by Friday morning, prompting local officials to take proactive measures.

Kutch Collector Amit Arora delivered a video message specifically addressing residents in the talukas of Abdasa, Mandvi, and Lakhpat, which are particularly vulnerable to the approaching storm. He advised those living in huts and kutcha houses to evacuate and take refuge in more secure buildings, such as schools, temples, or other sturdy structures. Arora emphasized the urgency of the situation, noting that the cyclone could bring heavy rainfall and strong winds, posing a significant threat to those in weak or temporary housing.

In addition to the evacuation advisory, the Kutch Collector also appealed to local residents to assist in this effort by offering shelter to those in need. He encouraged people with more secure homes to open their doors to neighbors who may not have access to safe structures, especially until the storm passes. This community-driven approach aims to ensure that everyone has a safe place to stay as the region braces for potentially dangerous weather conditions.

The local administration is on high alert, closely monitoring the situation as it develops. Residents have been urged to take the warnings seriously and act swiftly to protect themselves and their families.
