Foiled conspiracy: Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists arrested with arms cache in Srinagar
New Delhi: In a swift and decisive operation, the Srinagar Police, in collaboration with the Quick Reaction Team of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), successfully captured two terrorist associates of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Srinagar. The arrest was made after the police received vital information about the movement of suspected terrorists, following which a check post was immediately established at NR Colony on the bypass.
The suspects, identified as Mumtaz Ahmed Lone and Jahangir Ahmed Lone, both residents of Trehgam in Kupwara, attempted to evade capture in a white Hyundai Santro car. However, alert law enforcement officials foiled their escape.
During a thorough search of the vehicle, a significant cache of arms and ammunition including two pistols, four magazines, two filler magazines and eight grenades were found. The successful operation not only prevented the potential threat but also underlined the efficiency of the security forces in responding to intelligence inputs.
The police spokesperson highlighted the coordinated efforts that led to the arrest of the suspects, stressing the importance of timely and accurate action in maintaining public safety. A case has been registered at Batamaloo police station in connection with the incident.
