Kejriwal’s Escape to Vipassana Amidst ED Summons Sparks Controversy

New Delhi: In a surprising turn of events, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has decided to go on a 10-day Vipassana meditation camp, following his second summons by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). ED had called him for questioning on December 21 in the Delhi Excise case. Kejriwal’s departure from Delhi was pre-planned, and he left a day late than originally scheduled, leading opposition parties to question the timing of his meditation break.

The Chief Minister, known for his confrontational stance, landed at Adampur Airport in Punjab, where he was welcomed by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Security has been tightened around the meditation center and public movement has been restricted. Critics, including BJP leader Avinash Rai Khanna, allege that Kejriwal’s retreat is a ploy to avoid the ED investigation.

ED has summoned Kejriwal in a money laundering case related to the investigation of Delhi Excise policy. The agency claims that AAP had received a bribe of Rs 100 crore in this case, in which top party leaders including former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh were involved. AAP has vehemently denied all allegations and termed the investigation as a “witch-hunt” and “political vendetta” by the central government.

As the controversy continues to escalate, Kejriwal’s ignoring of the ED summons has added a new layer to the ongoing legal saga surrounding the Delhi Excise case. AAP indicated in a statement that legal experts are examining the ED notice, indicating a possible legal battle ahead.
