New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday lauded the efforts of those who contributed to the success of the Jan Dhan Yojana, as the landmark financial inclusion scheme completed 10 years. The Prime Minister highlighted the scheme’s transformative impact on the lives of millions of Indians, particularly the marginalized sections of society.

Congratulations to all the beneficiaries and compliments to all those who worked to make this scheme a success,” he said.

Launched in 2014, the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) has been a cornerstone of the government’s efforts to enhance financial inclusion across the country. The scheme aims to provide every household with access to financial services, including banking, credit, insurance, and pensions.

Over the past decade, the Jan Dhan Yojana has brought financial services to the doorstep of millions of Indians, giving them access to savings accounts, debit cards, and direct benefit transfers. PM Modi emphasized that the scheme has been instrumental in uplifting the lives of women, youth, and marginalized communities, offering them not just financial security but also dignity and empowerment.

The success of the Jan Dhan Yojana is reflected in the significant increase in the number of bank accounts opened, with millions of beneficiaries now participating in the formal financial system. As the scheme enters its second decade, it continues to play a vital role in India’s journey towards greater financial inclusion and economic empowerment for all.
