Public Opinion: Should Kejriwal Resign If Arrested? AAP Launches ‘Mai Bhi Kejriwal’ Campaign for Feedback
New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has kicked off a new initiative, the ‘Mai Bhi Kejriwal’ campaign, seeking public input on whether Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should step down if arrested. This campaign aims to engage citizens across Delhi, conducting door-to-door surveys at 2,600 polling stations from December 1 to 20, followed by public meetings in all 250 wards from December 21 to 24.
Alleging a “fake” excise policy case orchestrated by the BJP, AAP leaders like Gopal Rai emphasized that this initiative stems from a perceived conspiracy to target Kejriwal. The BJP’s summoning of Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate earlier this month, a move he dismissed as “politically motivated,” has sparked these discussions.
Rai highlighted the importance of public opinion in determining whether Kejriwal should continue leading the Delhi government even if arrested. Stressing the significance of the people’s mandate, Rai asserted that decisions about the Chief Minister’s status amid legal issues would be influenced by public feedback.
The AAP’s ‘Mai Bhi Kejriwal’ campaign aims to involve citizens in crucial decisions regarding their leadership, bridging the gap between governance and public sentiment. This initiative stands as a unique endeavor to understand and reflect the collective will of Delhi’s residents regarding their elected leader’s potential legal challenges.
