Salesforce Teams Up with Green Yatra to Launch Urban Afforestation Project
New Delhi: In a bid to combat environmental challenges and bolster urban greenery, Salesforce, the renowned AI CRM leader, has joined forces with Green Yatra, a prominent NGO dedicated to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Together, they’ve embarked on the Miyawaki afforestation project in Gholai Nagar, Thane, marking a significant stride towards ecological restoration.
Set against the backdrop of Earth Month, this collaborative initiative aims to tackle the burgeoning issue of degraded landscapes. By transforming a landfill riddled with plastic waste, construction debris, and open sewage into a thriving green haven, the project is set to plant over 33,000 saplings spanning 45+ native species across 3.5 acres. This ambitious endeavor not only seeks to enhance urban biodiversity but also underscores the importance of soil conservation and carbon sequestration, estimated at a staggering 7,33,3398 kg.
Afforestation initiatives hold pivotal significance in India’s quest for sustainable growth and environmental stewardship. By rejuvenating degraded lands, this project aligns seamlessly with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those concerning climate action and biodiversity conservation.
Sanket Atal, Managing Director of Operations at Salesforce India, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Sustainability lies at the heart of Salesforce’s values. As a founding partner of 1t.org, we are steadfast in our commitment to promoting tree conservation and ecological restoration across India.”
This initiative underscores Salesforce’s dedication to driving positive change and fostering a greener, more sustainable future. For further details on Salesforce’s initiatives, visit www.salesforce.com.
