Tragedy Strikes: Israeli Minister’s Son killed in Gaza Conflict

New Delhi: In a serious turn of events, Gal Meir Eiseenkot, 25, son of Israeli cabinet minister Gadi Eiseenkot, has lost his life in the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip. This was revealed by National Unity Party leader and former army chief Benny Gantz, who expressed his condolences on Thursday.

The tragedy comes against the backdrop of rising tensions between Israel and Palestinian militant group Hamas. Israel launched a massive offensive involving air, land and sea operations into the Gaza Strip on October 7, responding to Hamas’ deadly attack. The Israeli military confirmed the death of Gal Meir Eisenkot in combat in the northern Gaza Strip.

Political figures including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Gantz expressed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. In a statement, Gantz reaffirmed his solidarity with Gadi Eizenkot and the entire family and promised to continue fighting for the cause for which Gal sacrificed his life.

Netanyahu expressed deep sorrow and underlined the deep impact of the loss. The huge toll on Israeli lives has intensified the resolve to confront and eliminate the threat posed by Hamas. Israel has vowed to crush the Palestinian Islamist militant group in response to its attacks, which, according to Israeli estimates, have killed 1,200 people and kidnapped 240 individuals back to Gaza as hostages.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the situation in Gaza is grave, with more than 17,000 Palestinians reported killed and more than 1.9 million displaced since October 7. The conflict has raised international concerns, with Hamas designated as a terrorist group by the United States and other Western countries, which stands in opposition to Israel’s existence. As tragic events unfold, the region is embroiled in a complex and deep conflict.
