New Delhi: A love affair took a horrific turn in Bihar’s Vaishali district when a 24-year-old woman, Sarita Kumari, allegedly attacked her former lover, Dharmendra Kumar (22), with acid. Dharmendra, a taxi driver, suffered severe burns to his face after he reportedly refused to marry Sarita.

The incident occurred in Simarwada village, where the victim and accused were neighbors. According to police, Sarita called Dharmendra at 2 am, leading to a meeting where she, accompanied by an unidentified man, threw acid on him before fleeing.

Local residents rushed Dharmendra to a hospital upon hearing his screams. He is undergoing treatment at a private facility in Hajipur, while Sarita has been arrested.

Investigations revealed their five-month relationship ended as Dharmendra’s family arranged his marriage elsewhere. Sarita, a mother of three with three failed marriages, allegedly orchestrated the attack due to the rejection.

Sarita confessed to the crime, citing Dharmendra’s refusal to marry her. A case under IPC sections 307 and 34 has been registered against her and the absconding accomplice.

The disturbing incident sheds light on the darker side of relationships gone wrong, leaving Dharmendra battling severe injuries as police continue their hunt for the second suspect.
