Audi’s Next-Generation A5, Q5, and All-New A6 e-tron Set for Global Debut in 2024, Officially Confirmed.
New Delhi: During its annual sales conference, Audi revealed plans for 20 new global model launches within a year, including the A5 sedan, Q5 SUV, and all-electric A6 e-tron.
Balbir Singh Dhillon, head of Audi India, confirmed, “Expect the introduction of the all-electric A6 e-tron sedan along with updated versions of the A5 and Q5.”
Audi A6 e-tron: what to expect?
Originally scheduled for production in 2023, the A6 e-tron, first teased in 2021, is anticipated to follow suit with the unveiling of the Q6 e-tron. Sharing the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture with its SUV counterpart developed alongside Porsche, it promises a 100kWh battery with a claimed range exceeding 600km. Expect dual-motor all-wheel drive and single-motor rear-wheel drive configurations. Design-wise, it mirrors the Q6 e-tron’s concept closely. The A6 e-tron will feature Audi’s new E3 1.2 electronic architecture, a revamped interior with curved screens, and cutting-edge lighting technology.
Next-gen Audi A5, Q5: what to expect?
The upcoming A5 and Q5 will usher in new generations, built on VW’s MLB architecture and likely debuting in late 2024. Expected to be among Audi’s final ICE models, they’ll feature electrified combustion engines, possibly in plug-in hybrid form. Spy prototypes suggest an evolutionary design with Audi’s signature cues, while interiors may adopt digital interfaces from newer EVs, a trend set to extend across Audi’s lineup.
Will these models come to India?
Given the Q5’s popularity in India, the new-generation SUV is expected to arrive soon. The A5, available as the sporty S5 and RS5 in India, may see the introduction of their new generations. Audi has confirmed the launch of the A6 e-tron’s SUV variant by late 2024 or early 2025, indicating a probable release in India as well. With a focus on localization and expanding the EV lineup, Audi aims to achieve 50 percent EV sales by 2030.
