Corning Opens Cutting-Edge Digital and IT Center in Pune

Pune: Corning Incorporated, a global leader in materials science, has launched its new Digital & IT Center in Pune, Maharashtra. This state-of-the-art global capability center (GCC) aims to drive Corning’s technological advancements and foster local talent.

The Pune center will create approximately 100 jobs over the next two years, focusing on crucial IT areas such as supply chain, data analytics, cybersecurity, and digital innovation. This new facility is strategically located near Corning’s existing Corning Research Center India, reinforcing the company’s commitment to the region.

“India, and Pune in particular, holds immense potential for digital innovation,” said Soumya Seetharam, Corning’s Senior Vice President and Chief Digital and Information Officer. “We are eager to recruit top talent to support our technologies and offer them significant growth opportunities.”

Corning has been an integral part of India’s innovation landscape for over six decades. In recent years, the company has made significant strides, including opening its Wireless India Development Center to promote 5G adoption and establishing a joint venture with SGD Pharma for a glass-tubing facility. Additionally, Corning’s partnership with Optiemus Infracom aims to establish India’s first local cover-glass finishing plant for mobile electronics.

Sudhir Pillai, Managing Director of Corning India, emphasized the center’s role in leveraging data for smart manufacturing and advancing artificial intelligence and machine learning. “Our new Digital & IT Center will enhance our capabilities in ERP and cybersecurity for Corning’s operations in India and globally,” he stated.
