Iran Opens Its Door : Indian Passport Holders Welcome Visa-Free Entry.

New Delhi: Indian passport holders have reasons to celebrate as numerous countries have recently lifted visa requirements for Indian tourists. Joining the list of nations offering visa-free travel for Indian citizens is Iran, with Thailand, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Kenya making similar announcements.

The most recent development came from Iran, which declared visa-free travel for Indian passport holders along with 32 other countries. Thailand had previously delighted Indian tourists by announcing a temporary exemption for tourist visas, allowing Indian citizens to enter the country without a visa from November 10, 2023, to May 10, 2024, for a 30-day stay.

Sri Lanka also extended a similar provision, allowing Indian travelers visa-free entry for tourism purposes until March 31, 2024, for a 30-day stay. Malaysia, in December, implemented a 30-day visa-free arrival for Indians starting from December 1, 2023.

Kenya has also joined the list of countries welcoming tourists from around the world without requiring a visa. These recent changes in visa requirements provide Indian passport holders with enhanced travel opportunities during the holiday season.

In addition to the countries mentioned, more than 20 other nations have already waived visa requirements for Indian citizens. Furthermore, around 25 countries offer visa-on-arrival options for Indian passport holders, making travel more accessible and convenient.

The value of the Indian passport soared following Iran’s visa waiver for Indian passport holders. This diplomatic move not only facilitated smoother travel but also enhanced international standing, fostering stronger bilateral ties. The simplified access to Iran elevated the passport’s utility, promoting cultural exchange and economic opportunities for Indian citizens.
