Jeep Meridian facelift, launch confirmed for 2024
New Delhi: Jeep India has confirmed that the Meridian SUV will receive a facelift this year. The SUV is essentially a three-row version of the Compass and rivals the Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster in India.
Although specific details regarding the upcoming Jeep Meridian facelift are currently undisclosed, industry speculation suggests that it will incorporate subtle enhancements to its exterior design. Anticipated revisions include refreshed front and rear bumpers, alongside minor adjustments to the headlamp profile. Internally, potential upgrades encompass updated seat upholstery, while the fundamental cabin layout is projected to remain consistent.
The Meridian facelift will also pack a few additional features that were recently introduced with the Compass Night Eagle edition, including front and rear dashcam, and an air purifier. Features like panoramic sunroof, a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment, dual-zone climate control, reclinable second- and third-row seats, wireless charger, and ambient lighting will all be carried over.
Jeep presents the Meridian in the Indian market equipped with a singular 2.0-litre diesel engine, delivering 170 horsepower and 350Nm of torque. This engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 9-speed torque converter automatic. Additionally, there are deliberations regarding the introduction of a petrol engine variant for the Indian-spec Meridian, a move initially planned for the Compass. In Brazil, where the Meridian is known as the Commander, it features a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 185hp, a powertrain likely to be incorporated into the Indian Meridian and Compass models. However, unlike the Commander facelift, which is set to adopt the Wrangler’s 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine (272hp), such an alteration is not anticipated for the Meridian in India.
As of now, the pre-facelift Jeep Meridian is priced between Rs 33.60 lakh-39.66 lakh (ex-showroom), and is available with benefits worth up to Rs 2.80 lakh this month. The facelift will likely result in a slight price increment, but ahead of the Meridian facelift’s debut, Jeep is all set to reveal the prices of the Wrangler facelift in India on April 22.
